MINI KORDY | A Studio Project

I couldn’t resist whipping up a shop sample from one of the latest Pom Pom publications - Mini Pom!

Knit up in our super soft wool yarn alternative, Benjamim, the Mini Kordy sweater was a delight to knit and one the kids are sure to love.

And, if you’re keen to try a bigger version, a Kordy sweater adult edition is also available. Find it HERE.

Enjoy!

The Project

INSIGHTS AND OPPORTUNITIES

YARN + NEEDLES

  • Benjamim is just so soft! Yes it is micro-fibre, but when next to skin softness is a must it’s definitely a yarn to consider.

  • On knitting with Benjamim, the experience was really similar to any good quality superfine wool yarn.

  • I didn’t veer to far from the designers suggested colour palette, but if you need some colour inspiration definitely have a look at the projects on Ravelry.

  • I knit a size 4, requiring two balls of the main colour and one ball each of the contrast colours.

CONSTRUCTION + FINISHING

  • The sweater is knit in the round on circular needles. Given the small circumference I used both double-pointed needles and circular needles to complete the project.

  • Throughout the two-colour colourwork sections I held one yarn in each hand, catching any long floats (floats longer than 3 stitches) behind the work.

  • There were a couple of rows requiring three colours. I kept it simple working only two colours across the row and slipping the stitch that required the third colour. I then worked the row again, slipping the previously worked stitches and knitting the third-colour stitches.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Mini Kordy is a fun small-scale colourwork project with lots of scope for colour play.

I just love how soft Benjamim is, perfect for baby wear and gifts.

Yes, Mini Pom is an investment but with so many adorable projects it’s sure to become a favourite.
