AMIRISU ISSUE 23 | Inspired by Films

This issue features twelve film-inspired knitwear designs created by some of amirisu’s favourite designers from Japan and abroad.

Articles in this issue include a contribution from Lori Ann Graham, a look at amirisu’s new Tokyo shop, and an introduction to machine quilting. Plus, discover more about each of the films that inspired the included designs.

Pattern Notes: A pullover knit from the top down with modified drop- shoulder construction and boxy cropped body.

Pattern Notes: A cardigan knitted in the round with steeks which are later cut open to form the front opening, neck opening, and armholes.

Pattern Notes: A sweater knit top down using two yarns held together.

Moulins | yamagara

Pattern Notes: A top-down pullover with textured stripe pattern worked flat to shape the back neck, shoulders, front neck and underarm, then worked in the round with slight waist shaping.

Satsuki | Sari Nordlund

Pattern Notes: A pullover worked seamlessly from the top down using two strands of yarn held together.
Yarn: Lace + Fingering = Fingering / 4 ply weight

Varda | Paula Pereira

Pattern Notes: A cardigan worked flat from the bottom up for the fronts, starting with the ribbed hem. After shaping the back neck, the front bands are seamed together using the Three Needle Bind-Off Method. The back is worked flat from the top down, then the sides are seamed together. Finally, the sleeves are picked up from the body and worked in the round from the top down.
